It is Jafar Mohamed‘s third week in Venice, for a month long residency at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica, sponsored by Ruya.

Jafar is a self-taught painter living in Baghdad. Following advice from his tutors at the Scuola, he specialised in Printmaking. Here is he in his studio, with his tutors and students of the Scuola, speaking to Ruya co-chairman Tamara Chalabi about his recent print work:

At the end of the week, Jafar also put on a show of paintings executed in Baghdad at the Scuola. Tutors and students attended his talk on daily life and art practice in Baghdad.
